Paint your mimi
Your mimi arrives pure white, ready to receive your colors. It is modeled, resin-printed, washed, sanded and prepared by hand, then coated with a primer: all that's left is to bring it to life with your brushes.
*Mimis to paint are not shipped in house-shaped packaging.
Handmade Charter
Each mimi is unique, handmade and created exclusively for you: a little piece of my universe coming to nestle in yours ♡
Each figurine requires several hours of work, spread over several days. Due to its entirely handmade nature, here is what is good to know before ordering:
1. Variations in dimensions
As each model is made one by one, slight variations in dimensions may occur from one piece to another.
2. Small imperfections
Imperfections are entirely part of the craftsmanship and make each piece unique. Small irregularities, marks, micro-bubbles or a slight misalignment may appear despite all the attention I pay to your pieces. I like knowing that it is proof that no machine was involved: only my little hands, one piece at a time, with care.
Preparation before shipping
Before shipping, each figurine is:
- treated and washed
- carefully cleaned
- sanded by hand to remove any small imperfections
- prepared then coated with a primer suitable for paint
Upon receipt, it is therefore completely normal that the figurine is covered with a white layer.
The primer may show slight variations in appearance or not be perfectly uniform. This does not prevent the paint from adhering: it is precisely the base that facilitates its grip.
Despite the many cleaning and preparation steps carried out by hand, tiny residues, sanding marks or a very slight grainy appearance can sometimes remain on certain areas. This is normal for a handmade creation and does not mean that the figurine is defective.
Once the figurine is painted with a sufficiently opaque paint, then varnished, these very slight irregularities will be much less visible, for a homogeneous and neat final result.
The material is not provided
The figurine is sold without paint, without brushes and without painting equipment. It is up to you to obtain the necessary material for its customization.
Soon, an option with a kit will be available.
Why no kits (for now)?
The paint kits are in preparation, but will not be available right away. My goal is to offer a quality kit, truly suitable for painting resin figurines, with material that I myself have selected and tested.
I prefer to take the time to find good suppliers and good products rather than offering a kit just to offer one. The kits will arrive as soon as I have found a reliable selection, compatible with the figurines and at the most affordable price possible.
In the meantime, my recommendations below will allow you to assemble your own kit according to your budget and desires.
What material to use?
The paint: you must use acrylic paint suitable for figurines. Acrylic markers also work.
Attention: not all acrylic paints have the same quality, pigmentation or coverage. Some very basic paints require more coats or give a less satisfactory result. My recommendations:
- Vallejo: my main recommendation, the one I use myself
- The Army Painter: an excellent option, recognized for its coverage
The brushes: no need to invest in overpriced brushes. I recommend at least:
- a flat brush, with a rounded or rectangular tip, for large surfaces (those from Action do the job very well)
- a fine brush (liner type)
- a very fine brush (liner type) for details and small areas
Favor modeling brushes; nail art brushes also work. (For my part, I use Winsor & Newton brushes in sizes 00 and 000 for details, but less expensive alternatives are perfectly suitable.)
The varnish: once the painting is finished and perfectly dry, I strongly advise you to apply a finishing varnish to protect and enhance your creation. It can be applied with a brush, or in spray / aerosol.
⚠ Safety: if you use UV resin for finishes, or a spray / aerosol varnish, always equip yourself with a mask and gloves, and work in a ventilated room. UV resin is carcinogenic and the volatile compounds of sprays can be irritating.
The purchase, choice, handling and use of products to paint your figurine is your own responsibility. Some products may contain components requiring special precautions: before any use, you must consult the indications, precautions for use and composition provided by the manufacturer or seller.
The carabiner is provided
A carabiner is included with the figurine. It is deliberately sent separately, unattached, to make the different painting steps easier for you. You will only have to put it back in place once your creation is finished.
Delays & shipping
Allow between 1 and 4 weeks before receiving your mimi. Handmade work is a slow process, on a human scale: from 3D design to packaging, each figurine requires several hours of work, spread over several days.
Once your order is placed, you receive a first confirmation email. Then, at each new step, a new email informs you of its progress, until its receipt at your home ♡ The delay between two steps can be quite long: it is therefore normal not to receive a second email in the days following your purchase. Orders are processed in order of arrival.
Delivery countries: France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Portugal. Delivery to other countries remains possible via another platform: do not hesitate to write to me to place an order. Shipping costs may then be higher and customs duties may apply; they remain the responsibility of the customer and are neither calculated nor collected by Dodomimi.
Maintenance
Like any handmade piece, especially if it is worn daily, your mimi remains a delicate object. Avoid especially:
- shocks and falls
- repeated rubbing
- prolonged exposure to high heat
- contact with chemicals or solvents
Varnish protects the paint, but no finish makes a figurine completely indestructible. If you use it as a keychain, pay particular attention to the fine elements and the attachment areas.
Avoid any contact with alcohol, which can make the paint peel off, even under varnish. If necessary, clean it only with a dry cloth, without water or cleaning product.
Dimensions & weight
The dimensions and weight vary slightly depending on the options chosen, but the figurines measure on average 5 to 5.5 cm, for a weight of about 60 g.
